HMAS Adelaide Ball Photos

9 12 2007

Hi to anybody who has stumbled across my blog by following up my web-site from one of my cards.

The HMAS Adelaide function was huge. The caterer, Big Belly Bus decided long ago that I would be covering the function and the day finally rolled around. The difference this time over other similar functions I’ve covered is that I interacted with and took photos of many more people. The task now is to get those photos to those who should have them.

The release of photos basically goes :

1) It will take me a little bit of time to sort them (quality control) and perform basic edits. I shot some frames on film, so I’ll develop and scan that as well.

2) I was going to burn them to a dvd/cdrom and give them to the organisers like I did with the HMAS Canberra function two years ago. My instinct from the night though is that this will be quite unfair on a few people, as the demand would be reasonable this time around. I’ve matured more as a photographer and my equipment (lenses) is far more capable of returning a higher proportion of success. I’ll still burn the dvd and get it to the organisers, but …

3) I’ll upload the photos to a gallery (a private flickr set ?) so people can see them, and then people can contact me if they wants prints/higher res images.

In the meantime I’ll see what I can do to make it easier ….

OK, so after several years of holding out (and messing around with other galleries, none of which I’ve maintained in a satisfactory way at all), and needing a space to upload some photos on the weekend I entered 2004 and joined Flickr for all of my online photo hosting needs.

Now to catch up on the last few years of Web 2.0 stuff which Kate keeps making me feel old about…

I should probably add that the URL is linked now from this site.

Other than that, it really is time I got some sleep, so cyas !
